Daniel Ricciardo aast op rol van testrijder bij Red Bull Racing

Daniel Ricciardo bemant deze hele week tijdens de young drivers-test in Jerez de auto van Red Bull Racing. Als het aan de Australiër ligt is dit niet de laatste keer. Het zou geweldig zijn als dit uitmondt in een testcontract bij Red Bull Racing, aldus Ricciardo tegen Autosport.

Teambaas Christian Horner was in elk geval onder de indruk van de eerste testdag van de 20-jarige-coureur. Onze engineers waren al zeer te spreken over zijn werk in de simulator en hij heeft in de auto ook een goede eerste dag afgewerkt. Meer dan 110 rondjes zonder teken van vermoeidheid. Zijn spin aan het begin had geen invloed op hem en hij toonde zich volwassen door de draad daarna gewoon op te pakken. We zien wel hoe de test verder gaat, maar hij is een veelbelovend talent dat zich sterk ontwikkelt. We zullen deze test analyseren en dan in de winter een besluit over onze test- en reservecoureur nemen.
