Grosjean opgewekt door vooruitzicht van updates voor E22

Lotus-coureur Romain Grosjean is opgetogen in Bahrein gearriveerd voor de derde race van 2014. Tot nu toe is het kommer en kwel voor de Fransman, met een onbetrouwbare E22 waarvan het gissen is naar het ware potentieel. De rijders hebben in elk geval hun handen vol aan de bolide. Maar er gloort licht aan het einde van de tunnel. Lotus is druk bezig met updates.

Dit tot tevredenheid van Grosjean. "In de wintertests in Bahrein waren we niet erg succesvol, maar hopelijk spreiden we met dank aan wat updates komend weekend een betere performance tentoon. Iedereen bij Lotus steekt zijn of haar armen uit de mouwen om de situatie te verbeteren. De finish in Maleisië spoort ons des te meer aan. Ongeacht de uitdaging, we gaan voor podiumplekken en sterke optredens, waar we ook heen gaan."

"De race uitrijden was ons voornaamste doel in Sepang en daarnaast wilden we zien waar we staan met de auto. Het is verre van perfect, maar gezien waar we vandaan komen is het goed. Ik verloor acht ronden voor het einde opeens veel downforce. Dat maakte het wel lastig, helemaal omdat ik mijn positie moest verdedigen. Zonder dat probleem had ik misschien nog wat hoger kunnen eindigen. Het duel met mijn oude teamgenoot Kimi Raikkonen was wel leuk."
