Force India in de clinch met titelsponsor Sahara

Het team van Force India boekte sportieve successen in Bahrein, maar op bestuurlijk vlak rommelt het bij de Indiase renstal. Op de bolides van Sergio Perez en Nico Hulkenberg ontbrak tijdens de tweedaagse test in het oliestaatje de naam van titelsponsor Sahara op de side-pods.

De Sahara Group staat onder leiding van Subrata Roy, die momenteel achter slot en grendel zit omdat hij investeerders niet heeft terug betaald. Het zou om vele miljoenen euro's gaan. Het hooggerechtshof wees recent een verzoek om hem vrij te laten af.

Nu is de naam van de wagens van Force India verdwenen. Daar moet volgens de Indiase renstal niet te veel achter gezocht worden. "Dat was simpelweg omdat het ontwikkelings-onderdelen waren. Het logo van Sahara staat in China weer op de gebruikelijke plekken op de auto", verkondigde een woordvoerder aan Speed Week.
