Fiorio: "Domenicali als zondebok veel te simplistisch"

Stefano Domenicali moest vorige week het veld ruimen bij Ferrari. Volgens de officiële lezing hield hij de eer aan zichzelf, maar zijn positie van teambaas was eigenlijk onhoudbaar. De Scuderia hunkert naar succes en onder Domenicali bleven nieuwe titels achterwege.

Cesare Fiorio weet hoe dat voelt. Hij was teambaas bij Ferrari voordat Jean Todt het over nam. De Italiaan stelt in Speed Week: "Het is zonde dat ze nu Domenicali als zondebok afschilderen, net als bij Aldo Costa voor hem. Dat is veel te simplistisch gedacht, zonder stil te staan bij de oorzaken voor succes of falen."

De nieuwe teambaas Marco Mattiacci beleefde een droomstart met een podium voor Fernando Alonso in China, maar hij heeft geen enkele ervaring in de Formule 1. Dat maakt volgens Fiorio weinig uit. "80 procent van de materie is hetzelfde als in het gewone bedrijfsleven. Slechts voor 20 procent is de expertise van een specialist nodig, die vergaar je niet binnen een maand of een jaar. Maar we kunnen toch al zeggen dat 2014 aan Mercedes toebehoort."
