Massa: "Monaco nog moeilijker met de nieuwe wagens"

Williams-coureur Felipe Massa zet zich schrap voor de nodige ongelukken tijdens het Grand Prix-weekend in Monaco. De nieuwe bolides in de Formule 1 hebben flink meer trekkracht dan hun voorgangers en minder downforce. Dat zijn ingrediënten voor aardig wat uitbrekende auto's en in de krappe straatjes van Monaco zit een ongeluk in een klein hoekje.

Massa: "Ik denk dat Monaco een heel moeilijke race wordt. De wagens van nu glijden veel meer zijwaarts door de bochten. De torque van de motor is ongeveer verdubbeld ten opzichte van een jaar geleden en de banden bieden minder grip, dus in Monaco is het eenvoudig om te crashen. Ik beschouw dit als het zwaarste weekend van het jaar."

Force India-rijder Sergio Perez sluit zich aan bij de woorden van Massa. "Het wordt interessant. Ik verwacht veel rijders die de vangrails toucheren, hard of zacht. Deze auto's zijn zeer listig om te besturen. Zeker als de banden slijtage vertonen, dan heb je je handen vol."
