Marko: "Vettel meest waardevolle lid van Red Bull Racing"

Red Bull Racing reageerde gisteren adequaat om geruchten over een transfer van Sebastian Vettel de kop in te drukken. De Oostenrijkse renstal en de Duitser zijn nog lang niet op elkaar uitgekeken. De periode dat alles wat Vettel aanraakte in goud veranderde is even een halt toegeroepen, maar de viervoudig wereldkampioen is nog altijd op zijn plek bij Red Bull Racing.

Volgens enkele Italiaanse media zou de 27-jarige coureur naar Ferrari verhuizen en Fernando Alonso zou dan de omgekeerde weg bewandelen. Red Bull-motorsportadviseur Helmut Marko ontzenuwde die berichten. "Alonso gaat zeker niet voor Red Bull Racing rijden." Over Vettel zei de Oostenrijker echter niks, maar daar is nu verandering in gekomen.

Marko spreekt in Bild vol bewondering over zijn oogappel. "Meneer Vettel is een van onze meest kostbare 'bezittingen'. Dat we daar dit jaar niet alles uit halen, is slecht. Het kan niet zo zijn dat we het potentieel van ons meest waardevolle lid verspillen omdat we hem geen goede auto kunnen geven. Dat is onbestaanbaar."
