Ericsson leeft mee met Caterham en is blij met Sauber

Marcus Ericsson is al verzekerd van een vervolg van zijn Formule 1-loopbaan, min of meer. Sauber moet de situatie met de coureurs voor 2015 nog afhandelen, maar in principe racet de Zweed volgend seizoen samen met Felipe Nasr voor de Zwitserse renstal. Ericsson debuteerde dit jaar bij Caterham. Door de financiële problemen bij dat team ontbrak hij in de VS en Brazilië.

Ericsson deelde aan Sky Sports F1 mede: "Ik heb niet veel informatie over het lot van Caterham, ze vertellen ons ook niet alles. Voor ons zijn ook nog veel vragen onbeantwoord. Zowel bij Caterham als bij Marussia werkten veel mensen keihard om de boel draaiende te houden. Het is triest dat het dan zo uitpakt. Ik leef met het personeel en hun families mee. Het is te hopen dat het deze teams op een of andere manier nog lukt om terug te keren."

"Het is een zwaar en moeilijk jaar geweest. We hebben veel problemen gehad. Het was ook een leerzaam jaar, ik heb veel van mijn periode bij Caterham opgestoken en nu hebben we een overeenkomst met Sauber op zak. Het was een jaar vol hoogte- en dieptepunten, maar ik ben gelukkig met mijn contract voor volgend seizoen."
