Equipe Van der Zande en Alonso wint Rolex 24-uur van Daytona

In één van de meest bizarre 24 uur van Daytona-races ooit hebben Renger van der Zande, Jordan Taylor, Kamui Kobayashi en Fernando Alonso voor Wayne Taylor Racing in de #10 Cadillac DPi-V.R de overwinning gepakt.

Het was Fernando Alonso die twee ronden voor de laatste rode vlag-situatie de #31 Action Express-auto van Felipe Nasr kon inhalen. De race werd geteisterd door hevige regenval en was voor de laatste rode vlag-situatie al een keer onderbroken geweest. Nasr, die gedurende een periode aan de leiding reed, verremde zich aan het einde van het rechte stuk. Hierdoor kon Alonso de leiding over nemen. Kort daarna besloot de wedstrijdleiding om de race te onderbreken. Deze onderbreking bleek later de einduitslag te zijn.

In de GTLM-klasse won de #25 BMW van Connor de Phillipi, Philipp Eng, Colton Herta en Augusto Farfus de wedstrijd. Vooral voor de Braziliaan Farfus was het een welkome verrassing. De voormalig BMW DTM-coureur was een 'last minute' toevoeging tot het team. Minder geluk kende Jeroen Bleekemolen in de #33 Mercedes van Riley Motorsports. Luca Stolz, de Duitse teamgenoot van Bleekemolen reed voor de onderbreking aan de leiding van de race, hij spinde vlak voor de rode vlag situatie. Bleekemolen, de samen met teameigenaar Ben Keating reed, finishte uiteindelijk als zevende.

Man man....hier laat Fernando Alonso weer even zien wat voor coureur hij is. Deze man is nog steeds op zijn top.

Op een paar momenten gedurende de race de live stream gekeken en zeer terecht dat de equipe van Alonso en Van der Zande hebben gewonnen!
Ze hadden een paar keer pech met de gele vlag situaties. Op een gegeven moment toen Alonso in de auto zat tijdens een regenstint maakte hij echt het verschil en liep met 2 seconden per ronde weg.
En wat een spanning in de GTLM- klasse! Constant 5 verscholen de auto's in een treintje. BMW, AUDI, Ford, Ferrari & Porsche. Best racing seen in a long time!

Ze hadden zeker steeds pech met de gele vlag situaties.
Waren ze weer flink uitgelopen, kwamen de drie achtervolgers weer dichterbij door de vele gele vlaggen. Alonso was waanzinnig goed in de regen! Goed dat ze hem de laatste stint hebben laten rijden. De terechte winnaars van een knotsgekke race!

Alonso was s'nachts in de regen absoluut een klasse apart. Reed op een gegeven moment zelfs 2 a 3 seconden per ronde weg van de nummer 2!

Heel even vanmiddag gekeken. Hoop dat er een samenvatting is. Op LeMans was ie ook al van een andere klasse (in vergelijking met zn teammaatjes) in de nacht.

Ook leuk voor Van de Zande toch een beetje de vergeten man hier op het forum, was vorig jaar zeer ongelukkig, terecht overwinning!

Voor de twijfelaars en de Haters van Fernando, hij maakte werkelijk het verschil wat reed Fernando ongelofelijk sterk,ik blijf het nog steeds jammer vinden dat hij dit jaar niet in de F1 zit.

je kan van hem vinden wat je wilt, je kan zeggen wat je wilt maar rijden kan ie en hoe! ik blijf erbij het is echt 1 van de allerbeste en zeker all round want als er wielen op zitten en een motor dan doet ie gegarandeerd mee voor het hoogst haalbare
