King zaagt niet aan stoelpoten van Ecclestone

Justin King is officieel benoemd tot interim-voorzitter van het team van Manor Marussia. De naam van de voormalig topman van supermarktketen wordt al langer gelinkt aan een rol in de Formule 1, maar dan ging het vooral over de opvolging van Bernie Ecclestone.

King gaat de komende tijd de nieuwe eigenaar van Manor Marussia, Stephen Fitzpatrick, adviseren. De suggestie dat dit de opmaat is richting de positie van commerciële baas van de Formule 1, om het wereldje alvast te leren kennen, wuift hij echter resoluut van de hand.

"Ik ben daar altijd duidelijk in geweest. Ik heb nog nooit naar een positie die niet vacant is gesolliciteerd en bij mijn weten is deze functie niet beschikbaar. Ik snap dat men vanwege mijn zoon Jordan snel een verband legt, maar het is niet aan de orde", aldus King.
