Melbourne niet bang voor boycot

De organisatoren van de Australische Grand Prix hebben laten weten niet bang te zijn voor een eventuele boycot volgende week. Volgens geruchten in Duitse media zijn teams geschrokken van het ongeluk van Fernando Alonso, en zouden ze met een boycot meer informatie willen afdwingen van McLaren.

Andrew Westacott, Corporation Chief van de organisatie, laat weten dat fans niet bang hoeven te zijn dat de race niet doorgaat: "We praten elke dag met de teams, Formule 1 en de FIA en hebben het met hen nog niet over een boycot gehad. Alle teams komen richting Melbourne en kijken uit naar het begin van het seizoen. De wagens komen deze kant op, het personeel is gearriveerd en ook wij zijn er honderd procent klaar voor."

"Wij zijn niet bang voor iets, behalve hoe we het enthousiaste Australische publiek in toom kunnen houden over vier dagen."
