Brundle: "McLaren-Honda in grote problemen"

McLaren-Honda heeft nog een heel lange weg te gaan voordat ze weer potten kunnen breken in de Formule 1. Dat maakt oud-coureur en tegenwoordig televisiecommentator Martin Brundle op aan de hand van de wintertests. De betrouwbaarheid van de MP4-30 laat nog flink te wensen over.

Niet alleen dat, ook aanwinst Fernando Alonso ontbreekt in Australië na een curieus ongeluk in Barcelona. McLaren heeft de wind flink tegen. Brundle: "Er zijn zelfs mensen die zeggen dat Alonso op dit moment niet in die auto wil zitten. McLaren-Honda zit flink in de problemen, nietwaar?"

"Je kan ervan uitgaan dat McLaren en Honda het uiteindelijk wel op de rit krijgen. Ron Dennis heeft me verteld dat de faciliteiten van Honda de beste zijn die hij ooit heeft gezien. Ze beginnen met een forse achterstand, maar ik schrijf ze niet voor het hele seizoen af", aldus de Brit in Express.

    Laat ze nog maar effe klooien, het zal niet lang duren voordat we die winnende Honda beu zijn, maar niet in 2015 voorlopig ..

    Ik schrijf ze wel voor het hele seizoen af. En dat zeg ik als McLaren fan.

    Hooguit 20 rondes voordat beide McLarens er in Australië uit liggen.

      Let toch maar op. Vorig jaar zeiden we volgens mij exact hetzelfde over Renault. Red Bull kon ook amper ronden maken in de wintertests en plots halen ze een podium. Het kan dus nog.

      Ik heb dat ook wel een beetje. Die McLaren ziet er op het oog zo snel uit.

      Kwestie van tijd en dan staan ze op het podium.

      Dat denk ik ook, die auto ziet er idd snel uit en ik verwacht ze dit jaar ook nog wel in de top3 ergens een keer. Misschien met geluk, maar dan nog...

      Maatje van me is bij de testen in Barcelona geweest en wist me te vertellen dat de Honda toch echt het indrukwekkendste klonk van alle motoren.
      Sta er dus niet van te kijken als ze straks ineens toch vooraan meedoen.

      Ik schrijf ze ook niet voor het hele seizoen af. Staan in Melbourne net voor FI en Manor verwacht ik, maar halverwege het seizoen misschien wel tussen RBR/Ferrari/Williams. Geen overwinningen nee, podium misschien met héél veel geluk (maar ik reken er niet op).

    Het zal de eerste paar races niet fantastisch zijn, maar Brundle heb ik wel vaker betrapt op de zaken wat op te blazen.

    Grappige is dat je dit soort types nooit achteraf hoort wanneer hun voorspellingen niet uit zijn gekomen en in het geval van Brundle zou dat vaak het geval zijn geweest.

    Die voorspellingen ook altijd. Je krijgt daarna dan altijd die gasten met "ik zei het toch"? Het is koffiedik kijken. We weten gewoon niks. Alleen dat Mercedes, Williams en Ferrari er goed uit zien qua tijden die ze gereden hebben. Nog 6 dagen. Dan weten we meer.

    Even half on topic. Lees in de website van Autosport dat Dean Stoneman een gigantische klapper heeft gemaakt tijdens testen met de FR 3.5 Hij bleijkt ook van de baan te zijn geblazen door harde wind. Op de foto te zien was de klap vele malen erger dan die van Alonso. Na twintig minuten gecheked te zijn kreeg Dean de All-clear van de doktoren op het circuit.

    De problemen zijn er op dit moment wel degelijk, al denk ik wel dat Honda deze op gaat lossen en ze dan voorin te vinden gaan zijn. Wanneer dat gaat zijn is even de vraag. Eerst de eerste vier races van het seizoen maar even afwachten, dan hebben we een beter beeld wat er mogelijk gaat zijn (dit jaar)
