Lotus-duo kijkt uit naar de race na dubbele top tien-klassering

Romain Grosjean en Pastor Maldonado delen morgen de vijfde rij op de startgrid. De Lotus-coureurs konden aardig meekomen tijdens de kwalificatie en kijken dan ook uit naar de race van morgen. Ten opzichte van vorig seizoen lijkt men aardige progressie geboekt te hebben en punten liggen in het verschiet.

"Ik ben ontzettend blij om terug te zijn in Q3, vooral voor de jongens die de afgelopen twaalf maanden zo hard hebben gewerkt", aldus Grosjean. "We wisten van de tests dat we een goede auto hadden en vandaag staan we min of meer waar we verwacht hadden."

"Het zit allemaal erg dicht bij elkaar en wanneer ik nog twee tienden uit de auto had kunnen persen, had ik zomaar zevende op de grid gestaan. Ik denk echter dat we al met al tevreden kunnen zijn met wat we hebben bereikt. Onze racesimulaties zien er goed uit, dus laten we kijken wat we kunnen presteren tijdens de race van morgen."

Teamgenoot Maldonado start een plekje achter zijn teamgenoot en is tevreden met het resultaat. "Om de top tien te bereiken is een erg goed resultaat voor ons", aldus de Venezolaan. "We hadden het misschien iets beter kunnen doen in Q3, want daar verloren we wat snelheid. Met het oog op de race is het bemoedigend en we starten het seizoen in veel betere vorm dan vorig seizoen, dus dat is veelbelovend. We hopen op een goede race morgen."
