Ericsson behaalt eerste punten in de Formule 1 in Australië

Marcus Ericsson verlaat Australië met vier punten achter zijn naam. De Zweed wist vorig seizoen in negentien races niet te scoren, maar in zijn eerste race voor Sauber is het direct raak. De Zweed kon qua snelheid echter niet tippen aan teamgenoot Felipe Nasr. Hij werd vijfde.

"Ten eerste wil ik het team bedanken voor hun fantastische prestatie deze winter", aldus Ericsson. "Het is geweldig voor iedereen in het team hier in Melbourne en ook voor de mensen in de fabriek dat we dit goede resultaat hebben weten te behalen tijdens het eerste weekend van 2015."

"We hebben aardige progressie geboekt tijdens de wintertests en met het resultaat van vandaag ben ik blij voor iedereen. Ik heb mijn eerste punten in de Formule 1 binnen en dat is voor mij als rijder een groot doel dat is bereikt. Nu kunnen we verder werken voor de volgende race."

Teambaas Monisha Kaltenborn prees het gehele team van Sauber na het goede resultaat. Kaltenborn ligt onder vuur door de perikelen omtrent het contract van Giedo van der Garde, maar vandaag is het sportieve succes het belangrijkste.

"Dit was een fantastische prestatie van het hele team", verklaart Kaltenborn. "We zagen tijdens de kwalificatie al dat we competitief zijn, maar om deze resultaten te behalen op eigen kracht, is enigszins een verrassing."

"Het is een bevestiging van ons harde werk en de toewijding van het team dat moest werken onder vervelende omstandigheden. Dit geldt zowel voor de mensen in Hinwill als voor de mensen hier op het circuit. Het was een geweldig resultaat en we zijn er trots op. Ik ben uiteraard erg blij met mijn twee coureurs en de prestatie die ze hebben geleverd", besluit de teambaas.

Niet geheel waar Monisha, wat je zegt over eigen kracht. Ook dankzij Giedo zijn 8miljoen, die je gestolen hebt! :) Ouwe dief! ;)

Goede prestatie van Ericsson! Nu de eerste punten binnen zijn zal de grootste druk ook wel verdwenen zijn. Ericsson gaat het wel maken dit seizoen ;)

  Ericssons gaat vervangen worden door VdG, hij is duidelijk minder goed dan Nasr. Ik denk dat het voor het team de beslissing makkelijker heeft gemaakt, maar de kans was al klein dat Nasr vervangen zou worden.

Ericsson bedankte het team voor hun inzet via een Tweet, heb hem aangegeven dat hij vooral Giedo dankbaar moest zijn!

Mooi dat Eriosson punten heeft gehaald maar alleen met het geluk dat er veel autos zijn uitgevallen anders haalde hij van geen 1 punt.
En denk echt niet dat plofkip haar aandelen nu wel wil verkopen.

  Ik denk dat we Peter Sauber vaker bij de races gaan zien en dat die plofkip het veld moet ruimen. Ze heeft toch eigenlijk geen andere keuze.
