Alonso wacht reeks medische keuringen voor Maleisië

Fernando Alonso zal de verplichte medische keuringen voorafgaand aan de Grand Prix van Maleisie ondergaan in de beroemde Universiteit van Cambridge. Dat melden de Britse kranten The Telegraph en de Daily Mail.

Alonso zal in Cambridge de goedkeuring moeten krijgen van drie dokters aangewezen door de FIA. Wanneer de Spanjaard deze goedkeuring krijgt, kan hij met een gerust hart afreizen naar Maleisië voor de race van komend weekend.

In Kuala Lumpur zal Alonso wederom gecheckt worden, ditmaal door FIA-dokter Jean-Charles Piette. Hij zal de zogenaamde 'impact test' uitvoeren, waarbij wordt gekeken naar de cognitieve vaardigheden en reactiesnelheid van de coureur. De resultaten van dit onderzoek worden vergeleken met Alonso's eerdere scores.

On uiteindelijk daadwerkelijk op de grid te staan, moet de McLaren-coureur ook nog groen licht krijgen van de circuitdokter in Maleisië. De manager van Alonso, Luis Garcia-Abad, vertelde gisteren aan Spaanse media dat alles goedkomt: "Fernando zal er zijn in Maleisië. Hij is in goede staat en hij zal zeker slagen voor de tests van de FIA. Het is meer een formaliteit."
