Merhi voor Maleisië ingeschreven door Manor

Roberto Merhi krijgt komend weekend een nieuwe kans om zijn Formule 1-debuut te maken. De Spanjaard heeft een deeltijdcontract bij Manor F1 Team, maar in Australië reed het team geen meter. Manor is vol vertrouwen dat ze in Maleisië wel echt mee kunnen doen en dat is goed nieuws voor Merhi. Hij is namelijk samen met Will Stevens ingeschreven voor de komende Grand Prix.

Merhi: "Ik ben zeer opgewonden over mijn aanstaande Formule 1-debuut in Maleisië. In Sepang zijn de omstandigheden uitdagend. Daarom heb ik er alles aan gedaan om de hitte en de luchtvochtigheid te kunnen weerstaan. Australië was een teleurstellend weekend voor ons team, maar ik weet hoe veel werk Manor heeft gestoken in het operationeel krijgen van de organisatie. Het zou voor iedereen van het team geweldig zijn om de auto's in actie te zien."

Teambaas John Booth: "Na de teleurstelling in Australië hebben we goede hoop dat we in Maleisië een normaal weekend zullen beleven. We zijn terug gegaan naar de fabriek in Groot-Brittannië om technisch te hergroeperen en lering te trekken uit de geleerde lessen. We bevinden ons in een betere positie dan in Melbourne. We kijken uit naar het debuut van onze auto en onze twee jonge coureurs in Maleisië."
