Vettel wijst uitnodiging voor Mercedes-briefing af

Ferrari-coureur Sebastian Vettel gaat niet in op de uitnodiging van Nico Rosberg om morgen de briefing van Mercedes na de vrije trainingen voor de Maleisische Grand Prix bij te wonen. De Duitser vermoedt dat het gaat om een PR-stunt en bovendien verleent zijn teambaas Maurizio Arrivabene hem geen toestemming. Rosberg vindt dat jammer.

Vettel: "Toen dat ter sprake kwam in die persconferentie in Melbourne grapte ik dat Mercedes dan de hele paddock uit moest nodigen om mee te luisteren bij een briefing. Nu mag alleen ik nog komen. Niki Lauda en Toto Wolff zagen het eerst niet zitten, maar ze hebben Nico nu toch gezegd dat ik erbij mag zijn. Het lijkt meer op een PR-stunt dan een oprechte uitnodiging, dus ik ga niet. Ze willen laten zien hoe open ze zijn, maar denk je echt dat ze alles vertellen als ik daar zit? Het is allemaal in scene gezet."

Ferrari-teambaas Arrivabene was ook duidelijk. "Ten eerste heeft niemand mij op de hoogte gebracht van deze uitnodiging. Ten tweede hebben we hier geen tijd voor. Ten derde heb ik Sebastian nooit toegestaan om erheen te gaan. Ten vierde is het een kinderachtig verhaal. Als Seb echt zou willen gaan, dan had ik hem wel toestemming gegeven. Maar hij moet zich in eerste instantie op zijn taken voor Ferrari richten. Dat heet discipline."

Rosberg is teleurgesteld dat het niet door gaat. "Sebastian had echt mogen komen van ons. Misschien hadden we een paar details achter de hand gehouden, maar verder had hij alles te weten kunnen komen over wat ik voelde in de auto en hoe de wagen zich gedroeg in de vrije trainingen."

Jammer. Was leuk geweest als Vettel het spelletje had meegespeeld :) Had het wel humor gevonden als hij daartussen had gezeten.

  Het hele verhaal was nogal kinderachtig. Rosberg maakte een onschuldig grapje en Vettel was serieus in zijn wiek geschoten. Daarna werd het bijna een echte ruzie tussen die twee. De enige "onozelaar" in dit verhaal is Vettel. Hij had niet zo moeten reageren op Het grapje van Rosberg.

  Hoe heeft Vettel gereageerd dan? Hij zei alleen dat het bij hem wél uitmaakte waar zijn teamgenoot eindigde en dat ie wél graag had dat zijn teamgenoot goed eindigde..

  Oordeel zelf maar, naar mijn mening zit Rosberg gewoon een beetje politiek correcte meningen te verkondigen, Vettel doorziet dat en prikt er even doorheen.

  Dit vind ik nog geiniger eigenlijk want hier heeft ie Rosberg echt mooi te pakken en draait ie het verhaal mooi om. Popi-jopi doen tegen de verkeerde, hij had t kunnen weten :)

Rare actie van Mercedes beetje kinderachtig pesten lijkt het. Kan me niet voorstellen waar dit een nuttige publiciteits stunt voor kan zijn. Het is algemeen dat Duitsers geen humor hebben maar dit is wel erg a-typisch.

Flauw hoor. Maar we hebben het slechts over Vettel natuurlijk. Een race-legende als de schoonzoon van Broekhorn zou hier meteen zijn juridische voordeel mee doen.

Laten we het maar houden op een (flauwe) grap die een beetje een eigen leven gaan leiden is. Mercedes zou beter moeten weten.
