Balans van de STR10 stemt Verstappen tevreden

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Max Verstappen kan terugkijken op een positieve eerste dag in Maleisië. Hij eindigde in beide trainingen in de top tien en reed meer dan vijftig ronden. "De balans van de STR10 voelt erg goed hier op het circuit van Sepang, ook in de snelle bochten, dus ik ben tevreden met de auto", deelde Max Verstappen aan www.verstappen.nl mede. "Ondanks dat denk ik dat er nog wel wat tijd in zit, zo links en rechts."

Hij vervolgt: "We zijn de vrijdag goed begonnen. De eerste vrije training heb ik rustig aan gedaan om de baan te leren kennen, want het was de eerste keer dat ik hier reed. Ik had het circuit snel onder de knie en vind het een mooie baan. Het was een nette en goede eerste vrije training, met nog ruimte voor verbeteringen, en ik was blij met de wijzigingen in de afstelling van de auto voor de tweede vrije training."

"Van de hitte heb ik geen last, ik voel me goed. Tijdens de race zal ik zo'n twee tot drie liter vocht verliezen, dat ik ervoor beetje bij beetje aan water moet drinken om het te kunnen compenseren. Maar tijdens het rijden gaat het allemaal wel. Ik heb meer last van de warmte als ik stil sta. Fysiek ben ik sterk genoeg en ik voel me prima."

“Het omgaan met je banden is op Sepang niet eenvoudig. Het is warm en vochtig en daardoor ook zwaar voor de banden. De tweede sector is belangrijk. Die is technisch, dus daar moet je slim rijden om het verschil te kunnen maken. Ik moet wel zeggen dat de rijbaarheid van de Renault-motor absoluut verbeterd is, dat is erg positief. Inhalen op de rechte stukken zal echter nagenoeg onmogelijk worden."

Alsof hij al tijden meedraait.....Is goed bezig en kan alleen maar beter gaan worden nog. Wel vind ik dat Sainz een taaie is voor hem en dat is natuurlijk alleen maar goed te noemen. Die Sainz heeft wel meer formule ervaring dus in dat licht bezien doet Max het zéker heel goed.

Dat zal dan wel Force India worden. Manor is een onzekerheid en Lotus heeft zich voor meerdere jaren aan Mercedes verbonden. Sauber zal niet van Ferrari afstappen en Williams is een te grote concurrent voor Mclaren.

Zo te lezen weet Max precies waar hij mee bezig is. Gewoon lekker je ding blijven doen en je nergens door laten afleiden dan zie k wel een mooi resultaat in het verschiet

Morgen en vooral zondag worden interessant, Ferrari misschien dan toch een winnende auto kunnen bouwen? Nog één podium en het seizoen is al geslaagd, althans, dat was de doelstelling...

Mooi om Manor ook te zien alhoewel ik bang ben dat ze het seizoen niet uitzingen. Auto's zijn erg kaal (McLaren ook pijnlijk kaal). Rijden ze dan enkel en alleen vanwege die 2 puntjes die ze gehaald hadden in Monaco en dus budget hebben? Of betaald Bernie indirect mee? Vooralsnog knap dat ze binnen de 107 procent rijden.
