Lotus krabbelt langzaam op na moeizaam jaar

Het team van Lotus koesterde voorafgaand aan dit seizoen hoge verwachtingen, maar na de eerste twee Grands Prix van 2015 staat de Britse renstal nog met lege handen. In Australië waren beide auto's al na de eerste ronde uitgevallen, in Maleisië kwamen Romain Grosjean en Pastor Maldonado er niet echt aan te pas. Lotus is nog aan het opkrabbelen.

Engineer Alan Permane beaamt dat tegenover Autosport. "Je kan wel stellen dat we na een moeizaam vorig jaar nog een beetje op zoek zijn naar vastigheid. We hebben updates in aantocht voor China, waaronder een nieuwe voorvleugel, en in Spanje introduceren we een nieuwe neus. We voeren continu aerodynamische vernieuwingen aan en ik weet zeker dat we sterk zijn dit weekend."

De potentie is wel aanwezig, maar komt er vooralsnog niet uit, erkent ook Maldonado. "Het potentieel is overduidelijk, vooral in de races waarin de auto erg competitief is. Zodra we een vlekkeloze race meemaken, komen we in aanmerking voor veel punten."

Ik vrees dat Torro Rosso en Sauber door de Lotus opmars iets gaan terugvallen de komende races.
