Verstappen: "Volgens mij ligt dit circuit onze auto"

Max Verstappen kijkt uit naar zijn eerste kennismaking met Sjanghai International Circuit dit weekend. De Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur leefde deze week ontspannen toe naar zijn eerste Chinese Grand Prix. De jonge Nederlander is benieuwd waar hij in Sjanghai toe in staat is nadat hij in Maleisië zijn eerste punten wist te pakken.

Verstappen zegt op de Verstappen Info Page: "Ik heb me dinsdag prima vermaakt en ben op de immense Oriental Pearl Tower geweest om goed uitzicht over de stad te hebben. Het is indrukwekkend. Er zijn zo ontzettend veel mensen hier in deze stad! Ik kijk uit naar het weekend. Lichamelijk zou het makkelijker moeten zijn dan Maleisië, hoewel ik daar ook geen problemen kende. Ik heb hier nog nooit geracet en tijdens de track walk met mijn engineers wierp ik mijn eerste blik op de echte baan, die ik alleen op de simulator heb gereden. Het circuit is geweldig en groot en de lay-out van de baan staat me aan, want die lijkt erg technisch. Ik kijk dus uit naar de vrije trainingen."

"Volgens mij ligt dit circuit onze auto, omdat de STR10 erg goed met de banden omgaat. Dat was een sterk punt van ons in de extreme hitte in Sepang. Maar dat voordeel vervalt hier in de veel koelere omstandigheden, dus het zal spannender en zwaarder worden. In Maleisië was de rijbaarheid van de motor al honderd keer beter dan in Australië. Het is indrukwekkend dat zo’n grote stap is gemaakt in maar één race. Renault brengt nog meer verbeteringen, dus ik ben benieuwd wat ze hier in China voor ons kunnen doen."

Weet jij wat ze testen dan? Renault rijdt met een nieuwe motor, long runs, banden strategie bepalen...

Morgen tijdens de kwalificatie, dan gaat het er echt om en als je kijkt hoe dicht alles en iedereen bij elkaar zit dan is er van alles mogelijk.

Dat valt dan zwaar tegen, de prestatie van de str in de vrije trainingen is niet geweldig.
Zelfs McLaren is een stuk sneller.

  60 rondjes heeft Max gereden, dus de prestatie is TOP..sommigen raken gelijk in paniek als de tijden niet onder P7 zijn..ik snap dat echt niet.
  Uiteindelijk is het een TRAINING, zeker voor Max en Carlos die hier nog nooit hebben gereden.

Als ik de tijden van de VT's nu achteraf bekijk, merk ik toch dat het circuit de TR's blijkbaar niet ligt. :)

De STR worden weg geblazen door de Mercedes en Ferrari motoren.

Als Compensatie moeten ze zorgen dat ze in de bochten weer tijd goed kunnen maken, de wegligging lijkt goed te zijn, auto lijkt prima te sturen.
