Goedkope klantenmotor op de agenda geplaatst

Bernie Ecclestone maakt zich sterk voor de invoering van speciale klantenmotoren in 2017. Hoe dat precies in zijn werk gaat, dat is nog niet duidelijk. "Dat hangt af van wat we gaan doen met de reglementen voor 2017", vertelde Ecclestone op Motorsport.com.

Hij vervolgt: "Toto Wolff is iemand van veel woorden, maar weinig daden. Hij spreekt altijd vanuit het belang van Mercedes, dat is maar één team. Ik wilde nooit terug naar de V8-motoren, ik wilde een krachtbron waar klantenteams maar tien procent van wat de fabrieksteams eraan uitgeven voor hoeven te betalen."

"Daarvoor zouden dan andere regels gelden en het zou goedkoper zijn. Als de motorleveranciers dat een goed idee vinden, dan is dat mooi. Maar als ze de huidige aandrijflijn tegen een realistische prijs beschikbaar stellen voor de klantenteams, dan is dat ook goed."
