Max Verstappen wil ook zeepkistenrace winnen

Max Verstappen heeft de zeepkist onthuld waarmee hij op 16 mei de Cauberg in Valkenburg trotseert. Dan verruilt hij eenmalig zijn Formule 1-auto voor de 'STR ZK1', de Scuderia Toro Rosso Zeepkist 1 zoals de toepasselijke naam luidt, om zich in volle vaart de berg af te storten.

Verstappen zegt op www.verstappen.nl: "Ik kijk er naar uit om in deze schitterende kist de strijd aan te gaan met de overige deelnemers. Aangezien hij vier wielen en een stuur heeft, denk ik wel een snelle tijd neer te kunnen zetten. Het gaat een spannende race worden, want ik verwacht dat iedereen snel zal zijn, maar ik ben vooral ook heel benieuwd naar de creaties van de andere deelnemers. Ik heb wat filmpjes met crashes bekeken en ik ga het parkoers nog wel even vooraf verkennen."

"Hopelijk is de zeepkist sterk, zodat ik er goed mee kan springen. Maar daar heb ik alle vertrouwen in. Toen ik een jaar of acht à negen was, had ik ook een skelter, dus enige ervaring heb ik wel. Ik weet hoe zo'n ding stuurt, hoewel dat op hoge snelheid door een bocht wel even anders zal zijn. Met een paar sprongen en een bocht over een steil parcours naar beneden, gaat spannend worden."

"Met een Formule 1-auto rijd ik meer dan 300 kilometer per uur, dus bang zijn zit er niet in voor mij. Natuurlijk ga ik voor de snelste tijd, want met alles wat ik doe, wil ik winnen. Maar hopelijk wordt het een mooie show, want in de eerste plaats is het leuk en gaaf om aan de Red Bull Zeepkistenrace mee te doen en dat is het allerbelangrijkste."

Verstappen in een zeepkistenrace komt op F1Today, maar dat Mick Schumacher zijn eerste Formule 4 race heeft gewonnen is nergens te bespeuren op deze website...
