Lotus krabbelt op en richt het vizier op Williams

Het team van Lotus telt weer een beetje mee. De Britse renstal beleefde een beroerd vorig seizoen, maar met de overstap naar Mercedes-motoren en de E23 hebben ze in Enstone in de roos geschoten. Romain Grosjean vertaalde de snelheid in de afgelopen twee Grands Prix eindelijk in punten. Lotus krabbelt langzaam maar zeker op.

Grosjean legt de lat gelijk maar wat hoger. "We zijn op verschillende circuits als Melbourne, Sepang en Sjanghai met uiteenlopende eigenschappen geweest, maar de auto gedroeg zich op al die banen hetzelfde. We hebben een grotere upgrade voor Barcelona. Je weet pas echt wat het waard is zodra je het in het echt test, maar de cijfers in de windtunnel zijn hoopgevend."

"Het team van Williams is momenteel een halve seconde per ronde sneller dan wij. Dat lijkt veel, maar tegelijkertijd is het te overbruggen. Soms heb je niet meer dan een update nodig om je in de juiste richting te duwen. Waarschijnlijk weten we in Spanje of we de goede kant op gaan of niet."
