Bottas: "Ferrari is niet het enige iconische team"

Williams-coureur Valtteri Bottas heeft getracht om de speculatie over een toekomstige transfer naar Ferrari wat af te zwakken. De Fin is volgens de geruchten een belangrijke gegadigde om na dit jaar of na volgend seizoen landgenoot Kimi Raikkonen op te volgen in Maranello.

Bottas staart zich echter niet blind op Ferrari, benadrukt hij in Gazzetta dello Sport. "Ferrari is een mythisch merk met een speciale aantrekkingskracht. De rode kleur van de Scuderia behoort tot het erfgoed van de Formule 1. Alleen bevat deze sport meer iconische merken, zoals Mercedes en Williams."

De vraag is of hij met Williams ooit een serieuze gooi naar de titel kan doen. De Britse renstal ontbeert de financiële slagkracht die de fabrieksteams wel hebben. Daarom komt het voor Bottas wel goed uit dat Toto Wolff, een van zijn managers, een belangrijke positie binnen Mercedes bekleedt.

    Bottas wordt de opvolger van Rosberg en gaat niet naar Ferrari.
    Volgend jaar denk ik nog gewoon de Williams.

    Tenzij ze 2016 Hamilton eruit mikken en Bottas nemen ;-)

    die zijn 50 jaar weggeweest uit de F1.

    Ferrari is gewoon het enige team dat al vanaf het begin van het WK F1 mee doet.

      Inderdaad, dan is McLaren meer een iconische team. Die horen sowieso in het rijtje Ferrari, Williams, McLaren.

    Als hij ipv Mercedes McLaren had genoemd dan was ik er compleet mee eens geweest. Mercedes is toch een beetje het team dat vijf jaar meedoet om dan vervolgens 20 jaar op te scheppen over hun prestaties.

    Jawel, Williams en McLaren zijn mooie teams, maar niet met de zelfde status en aanzien als Ferrari.

    De f1 is niet meer iconisch, een aantal teams wel zoals McLaren, Ferrari en Williams.

    Ferrari is voor veel coureurs nog steeds het mooist denkbare team om voor te rijden, maar zodra je in kan stappen in de snelste wagen (nu bijvoorbeeld Mercedes) is die keuze redelijk snel gemaakt omdat een grote kans op het kampioenschap toch het meeste aanspreekt.

    Los van dat alles ben ik overigens enorm blij dat Williams gewoon weer lekker goed meedoet.
    Ze hebben toch een aantal minder sportieve jaren gehad (2008 t/m 2011 en 2013) en ik ben een tijdje bang geweest dat ze via een achterdeur de F1 uit zouden gaan.

    Ik denk dat ik naast velen spreek dat een super mooi historisch team als Williams er vanaf 2014 gewoon weer volkomen bij staat. Ook al zijn ze dit jaar vooralsnog het derde team, ze zitten er gewoon prima bij en de kommer-en-kwel jaren zijn voorbij!

    Wat nou iconisch Mercedes hebben in een ver verleden een paar jaar meegedaan.Als er andere de naam iconisch mogen hebben zijn dat inderdaad Williams en ook McLaren.Als motor leverancier hebben ze een aantal teams voorzien en zelfs die werden jaren niet bij Mercedes zelf gebouwd.Ferrari is het enige team wat er vanaf het begin tot het eind bij is.

      Is niet waar. Enzo Ferrari is zijn eigen team begonnen na bij het team van Alfa Romeo gezeten te hebben.

    Vooral Ferrari vind zichzelf het meest iconische team. Bottas heeft helemaal gelijk. dat Mercedes besloot zich terug te trekken uit de motorsport na dat verschrikkelijke ongeval in Le Mans maakt ze voor mij niet minder iconisch dan Ferrari. Ze zijn toch op een fantastische manier teruggekomen in de jaren 90? Als er al een naam van een team boven alle uitsteekt is het volgens mij Lotus( en dan niet dat huidige team dat de naam gekocht heeft).
