Alonso: "We kunnen punten scoren in Monaco"

McLaren-coureur Fernando Alonso is optimistisch gestemd over zijn kansen voor de Grand Prix van Monaco van komend weekend. De Spanjaard denkt op het stratencircuit een gooi te doen naar zijn eerste puntenfinish van dit seizoen. Alonso deelde aan Sky Sports F1 mede: "Ik denk dat we punten kunnen scoren in Monaco."

De tweevoudig wereldkampioen vervolgt: "Onze simulaties wezen uit dat we in Spanje op weg waren naar een negende positie, dus dat was een eerste mogelijkheid om punten te pakken. In Monaco krijgen we een nieuwe kans. De komende twee, drie races zullen we rond de tiende plek bivakkeren. Hopelijk staan we na Oostenrijker steviger in de top tien. Rond de zevende, achtste positie. Dat is het doel."

"Het laatste deel van het kampioenschap moeten we dan in de buurt komen van het podium. Dat is een ambitieuze doelstelling, maar ik ben optimistisch. Met de verbeteringen en de doelen die we voor de auto in ons hoofd hebben moet het haalbaar zijn. Het is nu zaak om te zorgen dat die ambities gestalte krijgen."

Zo te zien zijn jij en ik de enige die deze race niet kunnen uitstaan! Er wordt constant geklaagd dat er zo weinig ingehaald, wordt maar zitten wel kwijlend voor de buis naar een optocht te kijken.     De GP die ik ieder jaar het meest verafschuw met die doodsaaie races en die rijke stinkerds aan de zijkant die doen alsof het "the best race evaaaa" was. Maar dit jaar kijk ik er echt naar uit, omdat het de enige race is waar McLaren voorlopig punten lijkt te kunnen pakken :( Ben benieuwd hoever Alonso & Button kunnen komen dit weekend. Ervaring zat op dit lastige circuit in ieder geval.

      Naja, het verschilt enorm vind ik. Soms is Monaco een saaie optocht, maar dat zijn veel andere zandbak races ook vaak. Aan de andere kant kan er soms super veel gebeuren en Monaco en juist als er dan een inhaalactie plaatst vindt vind ik het dubbel zo gaaf.

      Monaco is juist een GP waar ik áltijd naar uitkijk. Vooral de onboard beelden krijg ik een kick van vanwege de vangrails die dichtbij komen.

    Ik zie het niet gebeuren. Ze zullen vast her en der wat punten pakken, maar zullen ook nog veel tegenslagen gaan tegenkomen. Vanaf nu rond plek 10 en er in klinkt niet realistisch gezien de 1e 5 races.

    "Op weg naar de 9e positie", tja, zulke tegenslagen bedoel ik dus. Zullen nog wel vaker onverwachte uitvalbeurten komen. En de concurrentie (oke, sauber wel, :-) ) zit ook niet stil.

    Nog even een keer, ik kan het niet laten.
    Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat Dennis gelijk heeft met de stelling dat "naam" sponsors uit de tijd zijn.
    Ik denk dat het ligt aan de hebberigheid van Dennis.
    De man moet van zijn ivoren toren afkomen.

    bv. Philip Morris steunt toch ook nog steeds Ferrari ?
    Me dunkt, McLaren is een even iconisch team als Ferrari.

    Daarom denk ik dat het aan de man Dennis ligt.
    Net als bv. Ecclestone. Die hebben we nu ook wel gehad.
