Juncadella elke week in simulator van Mercedes

Daniel Juncadello behoort tot een select groepje coureurs dat elke week in de geavanceerde Formule 1-simulator van Mercedes in Brackley plaats mag nemen. De Spanjaard was vorig jaar nog als reserverijder aan Force India verbonden, maar dit jaar concentreert hij zich volledig op de DTM.

En zijn taken voor Mercedes houden niet op bij de toerwagenserie. Samen met Pascal Wehrlein, Anthony Davidson, Jazeman Jaafar en een nog anonieme coureur verricht Juncadella werkzaamheden in de Formule 1-simulator van de Duitse autofabrikant.

"Eind 2014 hebben ze tien tot twaalf rijders auditie laten doen voor het simulatorwerk. Ik zit twee dagen per week in de simulator. De accuratesse is ongekend, daar heeft Mercedes flink in geïnvesteerd. Psychologisch en fysiek is het zwaar werk", aldus Juncadella in Marca.

Ik ben toch wel erg benieuwd naar de simulator techniek eigenlijk.
Het is toch bizar dat ze digitaal alles zo goed kunnen nabootsen dat het als echt aanvoelt, de coureur daar ervaring mee op doet en dat het team daar enorm veel data mee vergaard voor de echte auto's.

    Het is toch bizar dat ze digitaal alles zo goed kunnen nabootsen dat het als echt aanvoelt, de coureur daar ervaring mee op doet en dat het team daar enorm veel data mee vergaard voor de echte auto's.

    Toch was de tijd dat Ferrari dagelijks een auto uit liet op Fiorano ook wel mooi (afgezien van de immense kosten).

    Volgens mij is de anonieme coureur Robert Kubica, denk dat Ocon ook in de toekomst in de simulatie werk gaat verrichten. Toch wel goed om te zien dat Davidson nog steeds verbonden is aan Mercedes vindt het en erg sympathieke gozer.

    Zal me niks verbazen als in de toekomst hier ook beperkingen op komen en kan het me ook enigszins voorstellen. Anderzijds alles wat je in een simulator kunt testen kun je ook zonder coureur testen dus als je puur dingen als nieuwe vleugels wilt testen heb je daar niet altijd een coureur nodig in de simulator.

    Dit is ook weer zo'n voorbeeld waarom je F1 coureurs uit het verleden niet kan vergelijken met de coureurs van nu.
    Als max in Monaco in zijn eerste vrije training gelijk mee kan en zelfs een tweede plaats pakt, is dat echt geweldig ten opzichte van zijn conculega's
    Max heeft echter al dagen in de simulator gereden in Monaco.
    De coureurs van vroeger hadden geen simulators om in te trainen, die moesten alles zelf ontdekken en toen werd er niet door het team eerst verschillende rijstijlen getest in de fabriek om te kijken welke het beste is voor de komende GP.
