Mercedes open voor motor updates-compromis

Mercedes is bereid naar de overige motorleveranciers te luisteren als het gaat over het blijven toestaan van updates aan de aandrijflijn voor volgend seizoen. Op dit moment heeft de internationale autosportbond FIA 28 februari als deadline ingesteld voor de homologatie van het pakket voor 2016. Renault, Honda en Ferrari willen graag gedurende het jaar nog veranderingen aan kunnen brengen.

Voor Renault is het zelfs zo belangrijk dat ze anders mogelijk de Formule 1 de rug toekeren, verkondigde Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner. Unanieme steun is nodig om de regels nu nog aan te passen. Eric Boullier, racing director bij McLaren, merkt dat Mercedes daarvoor open staat. "Ja, ik denk dat ze al bereid zijn om te luisteren. Afgaande op wat ik van Toto Wolff en Niki Lauda heb gehoord maken zij zich ook zorgen om de Formule 1. Ik weet zeker dat er bewegingsruimte is om de regeling te versoepelen."

"Onze positie is helder, wij willen zoveel mogelijk vrijheid om te ontwikkelen. Dat is ook wel logisch gezien onze situatie. Met het chassis kunnen we alles doen om te proberen onze achterstand te verkleinen, wat de motor betreft zijn we met handen en voeten gebonden. Motorleveranciers kunnen zich niet herstellen en niet concurreren. De regels zijn voor iedereen hetzelfde en we wisten allemaal waar we aan begonnen, maar er moet wel wat flexibiliteit zijn."

Of je maakt de kleintjes groter door ze meer geld te geven. Eventueel een soort startpremie alleen ten behoeve voor de powerunit.

Dat motorleveranciers mogen doorontwikkelen ben ik helemaal voor. Zou de spanning ten goede komen. Alleen moet het voor de kleintjes wel leefbaar zijn, evt door niet altijd met dezelfde specificatie van motor te rijden.

Lijkt me wel logisch, als ze nee blijven zeggen worden ze onpopulair en dat is niet de bedoeling denk ik. Ze willen de sterkste zijn met gelijke middelen. Nu lijkt het alsof dat niet het geval is. Het gaat Mercedes( en Renault) toch vooral om de goede reclame. Maar dat neemt niet weg dat het eigenlijk oneerlijk is. Zij hebben hun huiswerk gewoon beter gedaan.

  Klopt, Mercedes heeft hun huiswerk beter gedaan, maar de andere teams krijgen geen kansen om hun huiswerk wat bij te werken, dat maakt het natuurlijk "gemakkelijk" voor Mercedes.

Mercedes is veel te bang dat ze niet meer aan successen
komen als ze een vervroegd gelijk speelveld steunen door
middel van regelwijzigingen. Het zou ze sieren als ze er aan
mee zouden werken maar zo zeker zijn niet van zichzelf.

Hopelijk zijn ze niet zo blind dat ze inzien dat overwinnen
met zo een groot verschil in kwaliteit van materiaal bij
lange na niet zo eervol en glansrijk is. Mercedes wint in een
tijd waar onvrede de boventoon voert.

MB is politiek bezig, sus de gemoederen, discussieer mee, net zolang het zeker is dat we WK worden. Who the fuck heeft deze regels verzonnen gvd. Het is toch niet normaal dat een team bepaald wat er moet veranderen cq gebeuren? Ow wacht, als de FIA MB tegen de haren instrijkt dan gaan zij weer dreigen. Ik zeg, maar de F1 weer interessant voor privé teams en minder afhankelijk van de grote fabrieksteams.
