Nieuwe wagen Force India mist helft aan onderdelen

Force India zou richting Oostenrijk vertrekken met een flinke upgrade voor haar wagen van dit jaar. Het blijkt alles behalve dat. De nieuwe wagen is slechts voor de helft af waardoor coureurs Nico Hulkenberg en Sergio Perez dit weekend alsnog de 'oude' wagen zullen besturen.

Na de race zal slechts één van de wagens de upgrade krijgen met de onderdelen die wel klaar zijn, om zo te kunnen testen op dinsdag en woensdag. Dit zouden voornamelijk een nieuwe korte neus zijn en een nieuw ontwerp van de voorvleugel.

Volgens Duitse media zou Force India nog zeven dagen nodig hebben om de complete productie van het nieuwe pakket af te krijgen, waarna er wel mee geracet kan worden in Silverstone. Dan zouden ook een nieuwe diffuser, motorkap en achtervleugel klaar zijn om op de wagen gezet te worden.

Een monteur van het team vertelde aan de media: "We zullen volgende week tijdens de test zien of we op het juiste spoor zitten. Het zou ideaal geweest zijn om hier te testen met een nieuwe auto die compleet is. Dat is niet het geval, dus we kunnen makkelijk stellen dat Silverstone geen raceweekend wordt maar een testsessie voor ons."

Een volgende grote update voor het team dat in financieel zwaar weer zit, zou komen tijdens het raceweekend in Spa-Francorchamps.
