Sergio Perez was ontzettend verbaasd toen hij hoorde over de verhalen van zijn voormalige teambaas Peter Mucke. Perez reed in 2006 in de Formule BMW onder hoede van Peter Mucke, maar de teambaas was alles behalve lovend over de houding van de Mexicaan.

Volgens Mucke leefde Perez als een zwijn en reed hij een huurauto stuk nadat hij dronken thuiskwam van een feest. Volgens Mucke kon Perez zich deze acties enkel veroorloven door het geld van Carlos Slim en Telmex. De Duitser stelde dat de Force India-coureur nooit de top bereikt zou hebben, als hij niet over zijn sterke geldschieters beschikte.

Perez haalde voorafgaand aan de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix zijn schouders op over de aantijgingen van Mucke. "Ik was vijftien jaar oud destijds en ik mocht nog niet eens rijden of drinken", aldus Perez tegenover het Oostenrijke Laola1. "Ik denk dat hij gewoon in de media wilde komen, zodat er mensen over hem zouden praten."

"Hij heeft niets voor mij betekend en ik sprak niet eens een woord Engels, dus ik kon niet met hem praten. Andere teambazen, uit de Formule 3 of GP2 bijvoorbeeld, hebben een veel grotere impact gehad op mijn carrière."

Jammer voor hem dat er een zeer groot aantal mensen in de F1 geen hoge pet opheeft van Perez vanwege zijn houding en omgang met collega's.
