Alonso: "Blij dat ik Kimi niet op zijn hoofd heb geraakt"

Fernando Alons was opgelucht toen hij zag dat Kimi Raikkonen niets mankeerde en zonder verwondingen weg kon lopen na het vreemde incident tussen de twee ex wereldkampioenen. Het tweetal crashte gezamenlijk van de baan na de tweede bocht, vermoedelijk nadat Raikkonen geheel zelfstandig de controle over zijn wagen verloor. In zijn spin nam hij Alonso mee die hem niet kon ontwijken, waarna de Spanjaard met zijn McLaren over de Ferrari van de Fin heen schoof.

De McLaren-coureur vertelde bij terugkomst in de paddock: "Ik had een goede start vandaag en maakte direct veel plaatsten goed in de eerste en tweede bocht. Ik lag veertiende toen Kimi met de hardere band veel wielspin had bij het optrekken vanuit de tweede bocht. Zijn wagen ging alle kanten op toen we hem met zijn allen links en rechts gingen inhalen. Op een gegeven moment verloor hij de controle en ging zijn wagen linksaf, net op het moment toen ik daar reed."

"We crashten samen in de vangrails en ik ben blij dat ik hem niet op zijn hoofd heb geraakt. Als ik naar de herhaling kijk is het duidelijk te zien dat ik probeerde te remmen maar mijn wielen hingen al in de lucht. Het heeft echt weinig gescheeld of ik had hem flink geraakt maar gelukkig zijn we er allebei ongeschonden uitgekomen. Ik was op de verkeerde plaats op het verkeerde moment. Het was vreemd, want hij had weinig grip en reed in de vijfde versnelling met wielspin."

"Ik ben verder oke. Uit voorzorg ben ik naar het medisch centrum geweest voor controle, omdat de impact 34G was. Het belangrijkste is dat Kimi en ik niets eraan hebben over gehouden."

Stewards hebben net beslist dat het een race incident betreft. Kimi verloor de controle, Alonso kon geen kant uit. Lijkt me correct.

Nette reactie van Alonso, gezien het feit dat zijn race verpest is door Kimi.
En al raakt Alonso hem niet, Kimi is duidelijk zijn hoofd volledig kwijt...
Hij kan maar beter direct zijn helm aan de wilgen hangen.

Het zou natuurlijk kunnen, dat Kimi hetzelfde probleem had als bij de spin in Canada en dat er dus plotseling meer vermogen op de wielen kwam, zonder dat Kimi daar invloed op had. (ik lijk wel een Max-fanboy bah...hahahahaha)

Maar op de beelden van Sky was duidelijk (schuin bovenaanzicht) te zien dat Kimi begon te slingeren en dat Kimi tegen Alonso aan kwam. Aangezien ze niet op de ideale lijn reden, lijkt het me een gevalletje van niet goed inschatten door Kimi van de situatie. In dit geval is het zuur dat hij een ander meeneemt i.t.t. de spin in Canada waar alleen hij (en het team) de dupe waren.
Wel mooi dat Alonso niet meteen naar een ander wijst (zoals Grosjean of Max, die dat wel doen) maar gewoon snapt dat het bij het racen hoort en heel nuchter zegt: ik was op de verkeerde tijd op de verkeerde plaats. Dat siert de man

  Ik vraag me zo onderhand wel af of de tweede Ferrari niet weer een rijdend laboratorium is voor semi-legale zaken. Remember dat zeer vreemde ongeluk van Massa in Monaco een paar jaar geleden?

  Je bedoelt Massa die twee keer over een bult rijdt op het circuit van Monaco onder het remmen? Dat is niet zo vreemd hoor.
  
  Elk jaar gaat er wel eentje af op die bult voor de chicane achter de tunnel, die ligt er ook al jaren.
