Kvyat: "Beschadigde auto maakte mijn race een hel"

Daniil Kvyat heeft zijn race in Oostenrijk beschreven als een hel. Dit kwam doordat zijn RB11 beschadigd raakte tijdens de eerste ronde na een botsing met Sergio Perez.

De Rus startte als vijftiende na een penalty voor het wisselen van zijn motor, waardoor hij 10 plaatsen straf kreeg, net als teamgenoot Ricciardo. Na het contact met Perez kwam de Rus binnen voor een pitstop en werd de voorvleugel vervangen. Toch bleek zijn wagen erg beschadigd op andere vlakken waardoor het lastig was de RB11 te besturen.

Kvyat: "Ik had zoveel schade dat er totaal geen snelheid inzat. Sommige coureurs remden op het rechte stuk na de start, misschien vergaten ze welk pedaal ze indrukten maar ik kon geen kant op. Daarna was het echt een hel om te rijden. Ik hoopte op een wonder maar dat gebeurde niet. We bleven buiten in de hoop dat we strategisch terug konden komen maar we bleken totaal geen kans te hebben."
