Honda mag ongestraft extra aandrijflijn inzetten

McLaren-coureurs Fernando Alonso en Jenson Button hebben toestemming om een nieuwe motor te laten monteren in hun auto's, zonder dat het ze een grid penalty oplevert. In het overleg van de Strategy Group van woensdag is besloten om nieuwe motorleveranciers een extra aandrijflijn te gunnen voor hun eerste seizoen. Met terugwerkende kracht geldt dat ook voor Honda.

Dat kondigde de internationale autosportbond FIA aan. De maatregel komt na een Grand Prix-weekend in Oostenrijk waarin zowel Alonso als Button 25 plaatsen straf op de startopstelling kregen, en dat in een startveld met twintig auto's. Daar is veel over te doen geweest en de internationale autosportbond grijpt nu in door nieuwe motorleveranciers wat extra speelruimte te geven.

De FIA heeft daarnaast het mandaat gekregen om samen met Formula One Management te kijken naar de kosten en ontwikkeling van de aandrijflijnen in de Formule 1. Klantenteams betalen tussen de 14 en 17 miljoen pond voor hun motoren, die prijs moet omlaag. Tevens zal de bond het token-systeem en de regels voor brandstofverbruik tegen het licht houden.

    Goed nieuws voor Honda, als ze de rest ook op korte termijn voor elkaar kunnen krijgen kan het weer iets leuker worden.

    Het zou de FIA sieren, de gridstraf terug te draaien en dus Alonso en Button de gegeven gridstraffen naar voren op de grid te plaatsen !

    "Tevens zal de bond het token-systeem en de regels voor brandstofverbruik tegen het licht houden" Ja dit gewoon afschaffen blijkt voor de handliggend. TOKENS krijg je mee in het Casino en zuinig rijden hoort bij straatauto's

    Waarom Honda wel en Renault niet? Ik vind het om eerlijk te zijn belachelijk, de regels zijn toch duidelijk!? Waarom het voor een team aanpassen? Ze hebben tijd genoeg gehad om een betrouwbare motor te bouwen en zijn daar niet in geslaagd. Renault loopt al voor het tweede jaar achter de feiten aan en krijgt het niet voor elkaar. Dus waarom zou men een onderscheid moeten maken??
