Ricciardo behartigt het liefst zelf zijn belangen

Red Bull Racing-coureur Daniel Ricciardo voelt zich niet genoodzaakt om een zaakwaarnemer te werven. De Australiër laat zijn belangen niet behartigen door een manager, hij doet het liever zelf. Tot nu toe kwam daar weinig bij kijken, Red Bull stippelde zijn loopbaan tot dusver uit. Maar ook bij een mogelijke transfer zal Ricciardo zijn eigen boontjes doppen.

"Ik heb een klein groepje om me heen verzameld, verder een advocaat en ikzelf", legt de drievoudig Grand Prix-winnaar uit. "Hier en daar krijg ik adviezen van mensen, maar ik wik en weeg zelf de opties af. Natuurlijk ben ik wel benaderd door zaakwaarnemers en managementbureaus. Begrijp me niet verkeerd, ze hebben allemaal wel iets te bieden."

"Tot nu toe is het echter niet nodig geweest. Red Bull heeft mijn carrière bepaald en steeds beslist waar ik zou rijden. De noodzaak bestond dus niet echt. Ik ben sowieso blij om het zelf te doen. Ik ken de paddock nu beter en mocht het nodig zijn om te praten of te onderhandelen, dan weet ik bij wie ik moet zijn. En dan kan ik het merendeel wel zelf afhandelen."

Klopt maar dan moet je wel gewild blijven. Als je nu continue verslagen wordt door je rookie-teamgenoot, dan wordt je marktwaarde wel hard minder.
