Oren Ricciardo gespitst voor plannen bij Red Bull

Red Bull Racing zal binnen twee weken meer duidelijkheid scheppen over de plannen voor de toekomst. Dat vermoeden leeft bij coureur Daniel Ricciardo. Het gaat dan vooral over de motorensituatie bij de Oostenrijkse renstal. Red Bull Racing wacht op een plan van aanpak van Renault om zelf knopen door te hakken.

Ricciardo: "Het ligt in de handen van het team. Ik hou mijn oren gespitst om op te vangen wat er gaat gebeuren en wat intern besproken wordt binnen Red Bull Racing, over Renault en de toekomst van de renstal. Van wat ik begrepen heb, zal ergens in de komende twee weken een plan in werking treden. We zullen zien hoe het zich daarna ontvouwt."

Op de vraag of Red Bull Racing ook in 2016 met een Renault-motor rijdt, antwoordde de Australiër: "Niet deze in elk geval! Een significant betere Renault-krachtbron zou ik nog accepteren. Maar zoals het er nu voor staat, met deze performance, dat kan volgend jaar echt niet meer. Het gaat langzaam maar zeker wel wat beter, maar we hebben een significante sprong vooruit nodig."

    Ja je kunt wel een andere Renault motor willen hebben, volgens het reglement is dat niet mogelijk. Hopelijk wel een sterk verbeterde, betrouwbaardere versie, maar een geheel ander ontwerp is niet mogelijk.

    Met het bevriezen van de motorontwikkeling zegt Ricciardo dus eigenlijk dat hij niet meer voor RedBull uitkomt volgned jaar. Ferrari?

      Beter lezen, hierin staat duidelijk dat Daniel zichzelf wel bij RB ziet volgend jaar, alleen weet hij niet met welke motoren.

    Nog even afgezien van dat ze eerst een betrouwbaarheidsprobleem met de cilinders moesten oplossen.

    Toch als ik zie waar beide RB's staan in de vrije training nu, is dit toch zeker niet verkeerd.

      Ja en dat heeft alles met de lay-out van de baan te maken. Op Monza wordt het een regelrechte nachtmerrie voor ze.
