Ricciardo: "Crash Bianchi heeft mijn blik veranderd"

Daniel Ricciardo draagt dit weekend zijn sponsorcap met een eigen geschreven tekst aan de onderkant; Forever in my heart #JB17. De Australiër is zichtbaar geraakt door het verlies van zijn vriend en collega Jules Bianchi en is ook anders naar de sport gaan kijken, zo vertelde hij in Hongarije.

De Red Bull Racing-coureur: "De sport heeft zich enorm verbeterd op het gebied van veiligheid. Doordat fatale ongelukken een lange tijd niet zijn voorgekomen vergeet je zoiets in feite. Ik weet nog goed dat ik voor het eerst in de Formule 1 kwam. Er werd toen veel gepraat tijdens bijeenkomsten door de GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers Association) over de veiligheid. De oudere coureurs pikten dingen uit rond de baan, zoals een vangrails die verkeerd stond bij het krijgen van een lekke band bijvoorbeeld. Als een jonge coureur denk je dat het jou niet overkomt, laat het gaan al die dingen en ga lekker racen."

"We weten nu wel dat die situaties door al deze veranderingen niet meer zullen voorkomen. Wij zullen als coureurs nooit meer races in in zulke condities met een tractor op de baan. We moeten echter vooruit kijken maar ervoor zorgen dat we niet een nieuw obstakel krijgen zoals hier is gebeurd met Jules."

  Ben het met je eens. Als je je hierdoor laat meeslepen wordt je er niet sneller van. Als F1 coureur moet je egoïstisch zijn en je niet af laten leiden.

Indien je voor een gokje bent. Ricci staat 34 tegen 1 voor winst en maakt degelijk kans volgens mij. Z'n racepace in P2 was constant een paar tienden beter dan de Mercs, for what it's worth.

Niet laten meeslepen? Is makkelijker gezegd dan gedaan denk ik.

Ric maakt degelijk ern kans maar dan moet alles meezitten en bij mercedes tegenzitten.
Morgen schijnt het 10 C koeler te worden en dat verkleint de kans op verassende verschuivingen.

Niet een nieuw obstakel? Waaraan denkt Ricciardo, aan drones, satelieten uit de dampkring, een SS20 kruisraket, een overstekend nijlpaard, een fanfarekorps...

Volgens mij is het enige dat soms op de baan komt en niet f1 auto is de safetycar. Dat met die traktor/hijskraan hebben ze nu toch wel afgeleerd denk ik. Of zijn ze juist dat in alle drukte met al het ge#### vergeten.
