Teambaas Verstappen: "Geld moet de doorslag geven"

De teambaas van Max Verstappen is de Oostenrijker Franz Tost. Hoewel hij soms politiek correct kan antwoorden staat Tost vooral bekend om zijn 'no nonsense' beleid. De discussie over wie de banden moet gaan leveren voor de Formule 1 vanaf 2017 is hevig los gebarsten waarbij ook Tost zijn mening klaar heeft.

"Ik moet zeggen dat Pirelli erg goed werk aflevert. We hebben eigenlijk nooit problemen gehad met deze banden. Ondanks dat denk ik dat de partij die ons als teams het meeste geld betaalt de banden moet gaan leveren. Ik bekijk het vanuit commercieel oogpunt en dat is het beste voor ons als teams", aldus de teambaas van Max Verstappen bij Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Zijn collega Graeme Lowdon bij Manor is het met hem eens: "Ik ben het volledig eens met Franz. Het commerciële plaatje is extreem belangrijk geworden. Als we eindigen met een nieuwe overeenkomst waardoor teams op zoek moeten naar geld dan gaat iedereen weer jagen naar nieuwe inkomsten. Er moet een goed landschap worden gecreëerd en één van de manieren om dat te doen is door ervoor te zorgen dat het financiële plaatje in deze zaak op orde is."

    Lol, dat je toch verworden bent tot de "teambaas van Verstappen".

    Maar goed, dit is dus ook de reden waarom Michelin de deal vorige keer niet kreeg. Die wilden eerst ik geloof 5 miljoen per jaar en later hadden ze dat wat verlaagd, maar ze wilden nog steeds flink wat geld.

    Pirelli vroeg een paar ton per jaar, maar wellicht dat die later ook nog verder afgeknepen zijn.

    Als ze nu zelfs geld willen zien voor de banden dan zullen ze toch zeker de wensen van de bandenleverancier wat serieuzer moeten gaan nemen.

    Ik dacht even dat dit ging om een eventueel bod van Ferrari om Max weg te kopen. Erg vreemde titel. Ik denk dat menig bezoeker van deze site heus wel weet wie Franz Tost is.

    Volgens mij moet het allemaal goedkoper gaan worden in de F1. Dus lijkt het me dat de teams de banden gratis zouden moeten krijgen. Dan kunnen ze ook niet klagen over de prestatie/prijs verhouding.

    Blijkbaar drie keer! Kom op jongens! Dat kan beter. Zo hebben jullie de kans laten liggen om Graeme Lowdon een 'medewerker van een van de teams die concurrentie leveren voor Max Verstappen', en dat Pireli de banden leverantier is van Max Verstappen...
