Manager dicht Alonso titelkansen toe voor 2016

McLaren-coureur Fernando Alonso mengt zich volgend jaar in de strijd om de titel. Dat voorspelt zijn zaakwaarnemer Luis Garcia Abad op radiozender Cadena Ser. Alonso finishte dit seizoen pas twee keer in de punten. Zijn terugkeer bij McLaren is nog geen doorslaand succes, maar dat Honda ondermaats presteert, valt de Spanjaard niet aan te rekenen.

Alonso geldt nog steeds als een van de beste coureurs op de grid, zo niet de beste. Abad koestert hoge verwachtingen voor 2016. "Fernando is voor volgend seizoen een van de kandidaten voor het kampioenschap, geen twijfel mogelijk. McLaren-Honda is een winnende combinatie. Ze hebben een radicale auto gebouwd en nemen nu de tijd om alles effectief samen te laten werken."

"De tekortkomingen van vandaag zullen morgen in sterke punten veranderen. Er zijn duidelijke positieve signalen ter indicatie voor een sterke toekomst." Alonso heeft twee wereldtitels achter zijn naam staan, maar de laatste dateert alweer uit 2006. Het is de vraag of McLaren-Honda snel genoeg in vorm komt om daar een derde kampioenschap aan toe te voegen.

Waarom niet? Als Honda de motor dusdanig weet te verbeteren met de upgrade voor Spa dat het team het restant van dit seizoen steevast in de top 10 kan kwalificeren met geregeld een auto in de top 6, zou ik niet weten waarom McLaren-Honda volgend seizoen niet kan doen wat Ferrari dit seizoen doet....       Nu ook een bericht van Honda zelf dat hun motor in SPa net zo krachtig zal zijn als die van Ferrari.... Dan zou top 5 dus nog mogelijk zijn ook... Pfff wie had dat gedacht. Gemengde gevoelens.. Aan de ene kant vind ik het prachtig om te zien dat ze dit voor elkaar weten te krijgen (moet het nog zien uiteraard). Aan de andere kant betekent dat misschien binnen een paar races een serieuze concurent voor Ferrari al is het niet meer in de titelstrijd/top 3 punten in de eindstand.

    Mocht hem dat lukken is voor hem die titel meer waard dan de titels van 05-06 bij elkaar

    Nog meer voorspellingen? Mercedes iets minder sterk. Ferrari, Williams en Red Bull ook nog beetje beter en dan hebben we 5 teams die vechten voor de overwinningen. Wordt een droomseizoen 2016!

      En Torro Rosso, met het super chassis, krijgt een merc motor, als lotus overgenomen word door renault. En zijn gaan dan voor het constructeurs kampioenschap.

    Vergeet het maar! McLaren en Honda lopen mijlenver achter, dat gaan ze zeker niet binnen een jaar op orde hebben.

    Het resultaat van Hongarije kwam nou ook niet echt door die geweldige pace, maar vooral omdat anderen het lieten afweten met uitvalbeurten e.d.

    Volgend jaar al meedoen om het kampioenschap lijkt me wel erg voorbarig om eerlijk te zijn. Wishful thinking, ik hoop het van harte maar geloof er voor 0% in.

    Ik draag het McLaren team een warm hart toe, maar dit lijkt mij redelijk optimistisch. Ik denk dat een podiumplaats al een behoorlijke opsteker voor ze zal zijn in 2016, maar meestrijden om het kampioenschap...nee daar geloof ik niet in.

    Ferrari mocht vorig seizoen ook blij zijn met een startpositie in de top 10 op een aantal circuits. Hun motor was ook zeer slecht. Zij hebben tijdens de winter hun totaalpakket (motor+chassis) kunnen upgraden tot uitdager van Mercedes, waarom zou McLaren-Honda dat niet kunnen komende winter?

    Veel zal afhangen van de upgrades aan de motor de komende maanden. Als die updates succesvol zijn en het team naar voren op de grid kunnen helpen, heeft McLaren een goede uitgangspositie voor volgend seizoen.
