Extra kerbs bij Raidillon worden mogelijk verwijderd

Om te voorkomen dat coureurs het laatste stuk van Eau Rouge op Spa-Francorchamps afsnijden is er voor dit weekend een extra rand met kerbstones gelegd bij Raiddillon. De coureurs hebben aangegeven de extra kerbstones niet veilig te vinden en de situatie zal opnieuw worden bekeken door racedirecteur Charlie Whiting.

Het betreft geen 'echte' kerbstones, maar een zogenaamde 'sleeping policemen' rand. Dit zijn kunststofranden die men bijvoorbeeld ook gebruikt in Les Combes. Max Verstappen legt uit waarom de situatie opnieuw wordt bekeken: "De kerbstones zijn best wel gevaarlijk. We hebben het hier vandaag in de rijdersbriefing ook over gehad, wellicht dat ze nog weggehaald worden. Vandaag waren de extra kerbstones geen probleem, wanneer je wijd gaat kun je zonder problemen er over heen. In de regen wordt het een ander verhaal en wat te denken bij een overmoedige inhaalactie waar de ander te wijd gaat. Ik verwacht dat er voor de derde training een besluit is genomen".

"Het laatste stuk van Eau Rouge". Wat is dat? Eau Rouge is de eerste bocht naar links. Het vervolg, de lange bocht naar rechts omhoog, heet Raidillon. Ik neem aan dat het hier gaat over de kerbstones bij Raidillon boven aan bij de bocht naar rechts.
