Grand Prix van Italië al na een ronde voorbij voor Lotus

Voor het team van Lotus zijn het moeilijke tijden. Na de Grand Prix van België werd er beslag gelegd op het materiaal en dit zorgde ervoor dat het team pas op woensdagavond in Monza aankwam. Geen ideale voorbereiding, maar desondanks startten Maldonado en Grosjean toch in de top tien. De race verliep een stuk minder goed voor Lotus, na een ronde konden beide coureurs gaan douchen en het team haar spullen inpakken.

"Het is altijd dringen in de eerste bocht op Monza bij de start en dat werd vandaag weer eens duidelijk. Ik werd geraakt door een Force India waardoor mijn voorwielophanging het begaf. Dit betekende ook het einde van mijn race. Als we door hadden kunnen rijden hadden punten er in gezeten vandaag", aldus Maldonado over zijn race.

Voor teamgenoot Romain Grosjean duurde de race niet veel langer. De Fransman stond twee weken geleden nog op het podium in Spa, maar had het geluk in Italië niet aan zijn zijde. Grosjean over zijn race: "Ik had een goede start, maar in de eerste bocht werd ik van achteren geraakt. De achterwielophanging brak af en dat betekende het einde van mijn race. Het is een teleurstellend einde van een lastig weekend voor mij en voor het team. We proberen als team het maximale te halen uit de mogelijkheden die we hebben en we krijgen gelukkig goede steun van de Formule 1-wereld. Ik ben optimistisch gestemd voor de komende races, waarin ik verwacht dat we het beter kunnen doen.".

Och och och wederom schakelen anderen de beide heren weer uit. Wat een nare coureurs hebben die anderen toch in dienst hè.

Zou wel eens willen weten of er ooit een coureur is geweest die meer pech heeft gehad dan Pastor Maldonado. Ook vandaag weer gewoon er uit gereden door een Force India in bocht 1, ongelooflijk...

Mochten Magnussen en Vandoorne dit seizoen voor Lotus gereden hebben, dan had het team volgens mij het dubbel van het huidig puntenaantal.

  Ik zou niet inzien waarom de problemen met het remsysteem (wat in de eerste 6 races voor de uitvalbeurten zorgden) bij die coureurs verschil zou hebben gemaakt. Die hadden dan ook geen punten gepakt. Sowieso hebben ze in de probleemloze wedstrijden telkens netjes de punten binnen gehaald. Grosjean ging de mist in in Canada en Maldonado in Hongarije, verder hebben ze eigenlijk weinig fout gedaan dit jaar, veel technische uitvalbeurten of door anderen er uit gereden. Al was het wel teammaat Grosjean die 2 keer Maldonado er uit reed...
