Kvyat is klaar voor 'uitdagende race' in Singapore

Daniil Kvyat zegt klaar te zijn voor de fysieke uitdaging tijdens de Grand Prix van Singapore volgende week. Volgens de Rus is de race één van de zwaarste op de kalender vanwege de hitte en luchtvochtigheid. Daarbij komt ook nog eens de factor dat het een nachtrace is op een stratencircuit.

"Het is de langste, één van de warmste en fysiek gezien zeker de meest uitdagende race van het seizoen. Toch vind ik de baan erg leuk, vooral omdat het een stratencircuit is. Het is alleen erg snel vergeleken met bijvoorbeeld Monaco."

Om zich op deze punten voor te bereiden, heeft Kvyat afgelopen week getraind zonder gebruik te maken van een bidon met water. "Afgelopen jaar was een extreem moeilijke race voor mij omdat ik tijdens het rijden geen water kon drinken. De bidon was toen stuk. Dit jaar heb ik vooral op fysiek gebied veel getraind en mij voorbereid. Dat kon je al zien in bijvoorbeeld Maleisië waar ik mij veel beter voelde. Ik denk dat het is Singapore dus goed zal gaan."
