Video: Het complete verhaal achter crashgate

Singapore is komend weekend de gastheer voor de dertiende Grand Prix van het seizoen 2015. Zeven jaar geleden schreef Fernando Alonso de eerste editie van de race op het stratencircuit op zijn naam, maar daar zat een luchtje aan. Stalgenoot Nelson Piquet verklapte in 2009 dat hij in Singapore in opdracht van de teamleiding was gecrasht om Alonso aan de winst te helpen. Crashgate, een van de grootste schandalen uit de geschiedenis van de Formule 1, was geboren. De BBC duidde het voorval in dit fragment.

    Singapore al weer 13 jaar op de kalender, de tijd gaat hard. Toch wel een van de mooiere GP's wat mij betreft.

    Crashgate was apart en jammer dat het zo moest gaan. Vanavond het hele filmpje maar even kijken, ben benieuwd of er nog nieuwe zaken tussen zitten die ik nog niet wist.

      Gewoon domweg te snel/verkeerd gelezen :D

      8e editie is toch ook al wel weer behoorlijk wat overigens.

    Was een smerige streek, net zo vals spel als Schumacher flikte bij Damon Hill.
    Dit soort acties hoort niet in F1 en dient streng te worden gestraft.

    Net echt een fijne aktie van het team. Wel een aktie die je kon verwachten van Briatore. Het was ook de aanleiding voor Renault, vanwege de enorme negatieve invloed, om de sport voor een aantal jaren te verlaten als Works Team. Wordt wel tijd dat ze nu weer terugkomen.

    Kijk dat noem ik nu een echte "Alonso" reactie. Als hem wordt gevraagd of hij het voor hem nog steeds ziet als een echte overwinning zegt hij glashard: ja, mijn auto was snel en ik reed goed, het is maar net hoe je het bekijkt. Volgens mij was het voor iedereen duidelijk dat Alonso alleen kon winnen door de "gelukkige" samenloop van omstandigheden (wat dus later opzet bleek). Als hij dit ziet als een echte overwinning is het voor mij duidelijk hoe hij er in zit: vals spelen is onderdeel van het spel.
