Hamilton meest populaire rijder op social media

Mercedes-rijder Lewis Hamilton is verreweg de meest populaire coureur op social media. Op Twitter, Facebook en Instagram heeft de regerend wereldkampioen Formule 1 in totaal ongeveer 7,8 miljoen volgers. Dat is bijna het dubbele van het aantal van de nummer twee op dat lijstje, Fernando Alonso. De Spanjaard van McLaren heeft 4 miljoen volgers, meldt Sky Sports F1.

Die aantallen vallen in het niet als je ze afzet tegen het aantal volgers van andere beroemde sporters. Voetballer Cristiano Ronaldo heeft bijvoorbeeld alleen op Facebook al meer dan 100 miljoen volgers en in totaal meer dan 171 miljoen volgers. Maar atleten als basketballer Lebron James, bokser Floyd Mayweather, tennisser Rafael Nadal en sprinter Usain Bolt hebben ook veel meer volgers dan Hamilton.

Bij de teams is Mercedes het meest populair. De Duitse renstal heeft ruim 12 miljoen volgers. Red Bull Racing en Ferrari completeren de top drie met respectievelijk 5,8 miljoen en 4,9 miljoen volgers. Ook de teams kunnen nog veel leren van hoe ze in andere sporten met social media omspringen. Voetbalclubs Barcelona en Real Madrid schommelen rond de 120 miljoen volgers.

    Komt deels ook doordat Hamilton verreweg het meest actief is op social media. Ik zie op FB/Instagram bijna dagelijks iets voorbij komen van Hamilton, +/- wekelijks iets van Alonso en Button en de rest nog minder.

    Ricciardo is pas sinds kort actief op Instagram, maar steekt wel moeite in z'n filmpjes. Geinig om te volgen :)

    Ik heb een echte aversie tegen Hamilton ontwikkelt, alleen maar door dit forum...
    Fanboys zijn echt verschrikkelijk.

    Wat dan altijd wel prettig is dat als je een interview ziet met Hamilton het best mee valt.

    Hamilton was ook al veruit de populairste coureur op social media voordat hij begon met winnen met Mercedes, maargoed hij heeft dan ook wat te delen buiten de promopics van een raceweekend (die hebben je na 10x wel eens allemaal gezien).
