Mercedes tilt zwaar aan eerste uitvalbeurt in 2015

Het team van Mercedes kon tot de Grand Prix van Italië een smetteloos rapport overleggen wat betreft betrouwbaarheid dit jaar, maar op Monza kwam die reeks tot een einde. Nico Rosberg viel een paar ronden voor de finish uit met een geplofte motor. Bij het eerzuchtige Mercedes is die eerste uitvalbeurt hard aangekomen.

Motorsportbaas Toto Wolff: "Monza was geen makkelijk weekend. Beide coureurs produceerden sterke optredens, maar er was er maar één die ook daadwerkelijk het resultaat behaalde dat hij verdiende. Als je in een positie komt zoals waarin wij ons momenteel bevinden, dan zijn de verwachtingen torenhoog, niet in de laatste plaats bij onze eigen mensen."

"Dit was onze eerste uitvalbeurt in 2015, wat aangeeft hoe ver we zijn gekomen maar tegelijk ook aantoont dat we niet onverslaanbaar zijn. Elk detail telt en we proberen alles tot in de puntjes te verzorgen terwijl we lering trekken uit ons falen op Monza zodat we de problemen in Singapore te boven zijn. We moeten hier, en in alle resterende races, op ons best voor de dag komen."

    Zeik niet. Zo'n krachtige, betrouwbare motor en dan is het nog niet genoeg.

      De rest van de leverancies zou dit soort motoren maar wat graag hebben denk ik zo.

    En met het constant sterke optreden van Vettel is zijn achterstand op Rosberg niet zo gek groot. Begrijpelijk dat ze zich wel wat zorgen maken... Ze willen bij Mercedes immers wel 1 en 2 worden in het coureurskampioenschap.

    Statistisch gezien zal het echt niet bij deze ene uitvalbeurt blijven, dus de gekrenkte zieltjes bij Mercedes moeten maar gauw wat eelt gaan kweken.

    De baas van Renault heeft bekendgemaakt na dit seizoen te stoppen als motorleverancier van RBR en STR. Hij vindt dat ze ten tijde van RBR's wereldtitels te weinig krediet ontvingen en nu teveel kritiek. Volgens hem heeft Renault duidelijk gemaakt aan Red Bull dat het voorbij is.

    Over het mogelijk opstarten van een eigen team, danwel overnemen van een bestaand team, is nog geen beslissing genomen.

      houdt dat dan ook in dat redbull niks hoeft te betalen en dat het verlies bij weglopende sponsoren blijft?

    Toch blijf ik het heel vreemd vinden dat Mercedes een motor bij Rosberg gebruikte die naar wat schijnt 5 of 6 races oud was. ik denk toch dat ze Rosberg erg benadeeld hebben hiermee. Hij had beter 10 plaatsen straf kunnen krijgen met een motorwissel, dan die oude motor erin te hebben gehangen. Ik vind ook dat ze bij Mercedes nu niet moeten zeiken hierover, want ze weten hoe marginaal dit soort zaken zijn en die motors maar een x aantal kilometers meegaan. Ik vind het jammer, want een spannend einde kunnen we toch wel zeker gaan vergeten dit seizoen.

      Mercedes wil helemaal geen spannend einde van het seizoen. Mercedes wil wat ze als merk uitstralen en dat is degelijkheid. Degelijkheid en spanning pasen niet in 1 zin bij een merk als Mercedes. Er is maar 1 duidelijke winnaar en dat is degene die daarvoor is aangetrokken. Ene L. Hamilton ;-)
