Rossi denkt Stevens te kunnen verslaan in kwalificatie

Alexander Rossi heeft vertrouwen dat hij tijdens zijn debuut Will Stevens kan verslaan in de kwalificatie. De Amerikaan rijdt dit weekend zijn eerste race nadat Roberto Merhi wegens sponsorproblemen in vijf van de laatste zeven races niet meer deelneemt.

Rossi reed ongeveer dezelfde tijden als zijn teamgenoot tijdens de eerste sessie, maar een remfout in bocht achttien betekende een vroegtijdig einde in de vangrail. Frustrerend, aldus de Amerikaan: "Het is niet wat je wil in je allereerste sessie. Maar zowel het team als ik hebben het achter ons gelaten. Zij hebben geweldig werk gedaan de auto klaar te krijgen voor de tweede sessie en ik moet hiervan leren."

De Manor-coureur vindt het frustrerend dat hij op vrijdagmiddag minder kon rijden vanwege de benodigde reparaties, maar denkt niet dat dit een grote invloed gaat hebben op de kwalificatie en de race: "Ik had de snelheid al snel te pakken. Natuurlijk is het niet ideaal dat we daardoor niet de hele tweede sessie konden rijden, maar ik was snel comfortabel in de auto. Ik heb er vertrouwen in dat ik Stevens kan verslaan in de kwalificatie."

Sterker nog, hij gaat Will verslaan. Vooral in VT3 maakte Stevens een erg onzekere indruk op dit circuit.
