Ricciardo tast nog in het duister naar reden uitvalbeurt

Daniel Ricciardo reed gisteren een sterke race en leek zich te kunnen mengen in de strijd om het laatste plaatsje op het podium. Een technisch probleem zorgde er echter voor dat de Australiër de finish niet wist te halen. De aard van het probleem is nog onbekend.

“Ik ben erg tevreden hoe mijn race verliep. De snelheid was in orde en ik reed in de top 5. We hadden hier niet verwacht zo sterk voor de dag te komen, daarom is het jammer dat ik hier geen punten bij kan schrijven”, aldus Ricciardo.

“De strategie die we hanteerde was een beetje riskant, maar pakte goed uit. Wat het defect was is nog niet duidelijk. We denken een probleem aan de ophanging. Toen ik bocht vier uitkwam merkte ik dat er iets niet helemaal juist was. Al met al kunnen we ondanks deze uitvalbeurt tevreden terug kijken op deze race. We hadden er niet zoveel van verwacht hier in Sochi, maar we waren aan het racen met Williams en Ferrari. We kunnen wat dat betreft tevreden zijn”, aldus de Australiër.
