Teams willen bandenplannen met Pirelli bespreken

De Formule 1-teams denken dat het goed is voor de Formule 1 om de plannen van Pirelli te bespreken. Pirelli maakte vorig weekend bekend de banden sneller te willen maken. Vanaf 2017 zullen de banden twee tot drie seconden sneller moeten zijn dan nu, iets wat de teams positief hebben ontvangen. De teams denken dat het voor iedereen binnen de sport belangrijk is om te overleggen wat de beste strategie is voor de bandenontwikkeling.

Voor de Russische Grand Prix maakte Bernie Ecclestone bekend dat het contract met Pirelli zal worden verlengd tot en met 2019. De deal moet nog wel worden goedgekeurd door de FIA. Met de bevestiging in aankomst willen de teams graag afspraken maken met Pirelli, zodat ruim op tijd duidelijk is met welke banden de teams vanaf 2017 zullen rijden. Het liefst met banden waar iedereen tevreden mee zal zijn.

"We weten gelukkig ruim op tijd wie de leverancier van de banden zal zijn. Nu gaat het over de ontwikkeling van de banden. We willen de Formule 1 sneller maken en de banden spelen daarin een cruciale rol. We rijden nu al een tijdje met banden van Pirelli, dus we kennen elkaar onderhand goed. Laten we daar voordeel uit halen", vertelt Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff.

Er is de laatste jaren nogal wat kritiek geweest op Pirelli. Wolff denkt dat het voor zowel Pirelli als voor de teams goed is om samen te kijken hoe ze het beste de nieuwe banden kunnen ontwikkelen. "Ik denk dat het lastig is voor bandenleveranciers. Je krijgt altijd wel kritiek, wat je ook doet. Het is moeilijk om een band te ontwikkelen waar iedereen tevreden over zal zijn. Het is belangrijk dat we nu met z’n allen gaan bekijken hoe we het beste te werk kunnen gaan, zodat we weten hoe de banden werken", vervolgt Wolff.

Ferrari-teambaas Maurizio Arrivabene had na de Grand Prix van België een conflict met Pirelli, maar na een gesprek met de bandenleverancier is de kou uit de lucht en is het tijd om naar de toekomst te kijken. "Pirelli geeft ons nu duidelijker advies over de banden. Ze praten direct naar onze coureurs en engineer. Ook kijken we naar 2017. We kijken hoe we de sport spectaculairder en spannender kunnen maken."

Nico Rosberg is van mening dat de fans ook een stem moeten hebben. Rosberg vindt het belangrijk dat er gekeken wordt wat de fans graag willen zien. "De fans moeten van de sport houden. We moeten dus kijken wat de fans graag willen zien. 2017 is een kans om veranderingen door te voeren. We moeten deze kans niet onbenut laten."

Als de teams nu eens even de mond houden en eens niet willen meepraten.... De (meeste) teams zijn de oorzaak dat we nu met deze stofzuigers rijden en daarom teams op omvallen staan en de formule1 in een identiteitscrisis zit

  De teams moeten in dit kader in ieder geval luisteren en verplichtingen aan gaan...
  
  Luisteren: adviezen van Pirelli opvolgen. Maximaal 25 ronden mits je binnen de racelijnen blijft? Dan niet proberen er 30 uit te persen of elke ronde buiten het baan over de kerbs gaan...
  
  Verplichtingen aangaan: minimaal 2x per seizoen mee doen aan een bandentest, anders mond houden over de banden die door andere teams getest en goed bevonden zijn.
