Grosjean en Sainz fit genoeg om te racen

Romain Grosjean en Carlos Sainz Jr. zijn beide fit genoeg om deel te nemen aan het Grand Prix weekend in de Verenigde Staten. Sainz Jr. maakte eerder deze week al bekend zich fit genoeg te voelen. Ook Grosjean zegt zich goed te voelen. Beide coureurs maakte tijdens het vorige Grand Prix weekend een flinke klapper in Sochi.

Sainz Jr. zat na zijn crash op zaterdag de volgende dag alweer in de Toro Rosso. De Spanjaard vertelde echter achteraf last te hebben gehad van duizeligheid. De teamgenoot van Max Verstappen zegt inmiddels weer helemaal hersteld te zijn.

Grosjean verloor tijdens de race met ruim 300 km per uur de controle over zijn Lotus. De impact die de Fransman te voorduren kreeg was bijna 40G. Achteraf gaf Grosjean aan het gevoel te hebben gehad van tien hoog uit een raam te zijn gevallen.

“Ik had de dag daarna een PR-evenement voor Microsoft. Ik dacht dat ik daar de hele dag met een ontzettende stijve nek zal zitten, maar dat viel hartstikke mee”, vertelt Grosjean.

De Lotus-coureur gaf later aan niet zeker te zijn of zijn team wel genoeg onderdelen zal hebben om de auto helemaal opnieuw op te kunnen bouwen voor de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten. Team engineer Alan Permane zegt dat alles in orde is: “We hebben alles in orde. We hebben zelfs de versnellingsbak kunnen redden. Die gaan we dus opnieuw gebruiken."

Alles hergebruikt waar het maar kon dus op de auto van Grosjean. Die rijdt met een halve schrootauto rond. Het wordt toch wel een zielig verhaal de financiële crisis rondom Lotus. Ik hoop nog steeds dat Renault de boel snel definitief overneemt!

  die wachten denk ik tot er duidelijkheid is wat er met het team van redbull gebeurd.
  zodra die stoppen zullen ze redbull overnemen ipv lotus
