Perez: "Mijn droom is om in Mexico te winnen"

Sergio Perez heeft toegegeven dat hij als droom graag de Grand Prix van Mexico zou willen winnen. Helaas geeft de Mexicaan ook toe dat Force India waarschijnlijk een zwaar weekend in Mexico voor de boeg heeft. Dit weekend is het Formule 1-circus voor het eerst in 23 jaar terug op Mexicaanse bodem. Voor Perez is het daardoor ook de eerste keer dat hij een Formule 1-race rijdt in zijn thuisland.

Na een podiumplek in Rusland en een vijfde plaats in Amerika lijkt het in Mexico niet makkelijk te gaan. In de tweede vrije training pakte Perez een vijftiende plaats, en was 2 seconden langzamer dan Nico Hulkenberg. Na de vraag of hij droomde van een podiumplek in Mexico reageert Perez: "Mijn droom is om races te winnen, en vooral deze race te winnen in Mexico."

"Mijn team werkt erg hard, maar ik denk dat we een zwaar weekend hebben hier. Sommige teams zijn erg competitief, en de McLarens zijn de verrassing van dit weekend. Voor mij voelt dit hoe dan ook fantastisch, om in mijn eigen land een Formule 1-race te rijden. Voor mij was dit een droom, maar ook voor het complete land. Dat we een race mogen organiseren in dit land betekent veel voor ons. Ik hoop daardoor dat we alle Mexicanen een fantastische race kunnen laten zien zondag", zo besluit Sergio Perez.
