Magnussen eerste keus Haas bij afwijzing Grosjean

Kevin Magnussen heeft nog nergens onderdak gevonden voor volgend jaar. De Deen test deze maand in een LMP1-bolide van Porsche en hoopt een contract af te dwingen voor de 24 uur van Le Mans. Het had echter weinig gescheeld of hij had in 2016 teruggekeerd op de Formule 1-grid. Haas F1 Team had Magnussen hoog op het lijstje staan.

Gene Haas onthulde in gesprek met Formula1.com: "We hebben met Magnussen gesproken en hij was een zeer geschikte kandidaat. Bij McLaren geven ze hoog over hem op, hij wordt erg gerespecteerd binnen dat team. Als Romain Grosjean nee had gezegd tegen ons, dan hadden we Magnussen genomen als racecoureur."

Daarmee was Magnussen derde keus voor de positie van ervaren coureur binnen Haas F1 Team. De Amerikaanse nieuwkomer probeerde eerst Nico Hülkenberg te strikken, maar nadat de Duitser zijn contract bij Force India had verlengd verschoof Haas de aandacht naar Grosjean. De Fransman ging wel in op het aanbod.

    Daar heeft hij nu weinig aan. Hij blijft op deze manier maar een beetje de tweede keus. Hoewel hij in zijn debuut in die matige McLaren toch een podium had, om maar wat te noemen. Het is geen pannenkoek.

    Nog steeds jammer dat dat ART F1 team niet van de grond is gekomen. Manussen - Vandoorne was en mooie line-up geweest.

    Gooi dan die Mexicaan er gauw uit en neem alsnog Magnussen, dan heb je een veel sterker team!

      Richardt, dat is niet zeker, kan zelfs zijn dat ze aan het eind minder centjes overhouden.
      Weet zeker dat Magnussen meer punten binnenrijdt dan die Mexicaanse pannekoek en punten=cash in de F1.

    Gene Haas heeft nog volop centjes van zijn Piloten nodig om de boel te kunnen runnen, vooral in de aanvangsfase. Zou Haas-f1 eind 2016 eindigen binnen de top 8 dan zullen de sponsors wel vanzelf aanbellen. FF wachten nog
