Grosjean vastberaden om Lotus zesde plek te bezorgen

Romain Grosjean heeft laten weten dat hij er alles aan zal doen om Lotus de zesde plaats bij de constructeurs te bezorgen. Grosjean maakte eerder bekend dat hij Lotus in de winter verlaat om een nieuw avontuur te beginnen bij het debuterende Haas F1 team. Lotus heeft momenteel nog maar zes punten voorsprong op Scuderia Toro Rosso.

"We willen voor Toro Rosso eindigen bij de constructeurs. Force India is buiten bereik, maar op basis van onze prestaties van de afgelopen races moeten we Toro Rosso achter ons kunnen houden. De zesde plek levert het team aardig wat geld op en dat kunnen ze goed gebruiken volgend jaar. We zullen in Sao Paulo moeten maximaliseren omdat Abu Dhabi ons niet zo goed zal liggen", aldus Grosjean.

Grosjean geeft verder aan dat hij wil genieten van de laatste twee races voor Lotus. Grosjean geeft aan dat Lotus het nooit goed heeft gedaan in Sao Paulo: "Ik wil van mijn laatste twee races bij het team genieten. Ik heb het hier nooit zo goed gedaan, hoewel ik het circuit fantastisch vindt. Hopelijk kunnen we een heel goed vervolg hebben van het weekend zonder problemen."

Naast de zesde plek bij de constructeurs vecht Grosjean zelf ook nog om een plek in de top tien van het rijderskampioenschap. Grosjean over zijn kansen: "Het wordt spannend met Hülkenberg en Verstappen dicht in de buurt. Hopelijk kan ik mijn periode bij Lotus afsluiten met een podium."

Hij bedoeld natuurlijk dat hij in ieder geval niet achter Max wil eindigen in het kampioenschap.
Grosjean staat nu nog 2 punten achter Max en dat is niet zo best voor zijn ego :(
