Verstappen: "Niet blij, maar we zijn niet ongerust"

Max Verstappen wist in de eerste twee vrije trainingen voor de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi niet tot de top tien door te dringen. De jonge Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur was wel beide keren sneller dan teamgenoot Carlos Sainz, maar hij kwam niet verder dan P12 en P13. De Nederlander maakt zich echter geen zorgen.

Verstappen deelde aan Verstappen.nl mede: "We zijn niet blij met de plek waar we staan maar we zijn niet ongerust. Dit gebeurde ons ook in Brazilië waar we uiteindelijk ook competitief waren. We zijn met de set-up de goede richting in gegaan gedurende de sessie. Als alle stukjes op de goede plek vallen, komen we een heel eind."

Als hij in Abu Dhabi weer in de punten eindigt, dan is het de zevende puntenfinish op een rij voor Verstappen. Dat zou een mooie afsluiter voor een indrukwekkend debuutseizoen in de Formule 1 zijn. De Nederlander verzamelde al 49 punten.
